Definition of Coaching
In 3000 BC coaches were a horse & buggy designed to CARRY someone from point A to B (Chapman, S. The Christian Coach). At present, a called coach (human) has capacity to not only carry, but transform. Coaches help their client become aware of their emotions, accept where they are in their present situation, acknowledge change is needed, and assist them in gaining capacity to set a goal, accomplish it, move forward, and shift from stagnant to sustainability.
THE BIBLE APPROACH
Faith without works is dead (James 2:14 KJV) Take a moment to think about it…Abraham had to walk up the mountain to sacrifice his son, even though he trusted God would make a way (Genesis 22). The lame man had to take up his bed and walk (John 5:17), and the woman with the issue of blood had to press her way (Luke 8:43-48. We help our clients get up from their dead place, think clearly, and apply action to it. WE HELP them take the next step.
Lesson Summary
The Bible Approach in Christian Coaching is all about transformation; not just providing a means of transporting from point A to point B. The Bible tells us that we must take action, and work with our faith to realize desired outcomes. This principle is applied by coaches today when they help their clients understand and accept their emotions, identify areas of change, set and achieve goals, and move from stagnation to sustainability. This is done by helping clients take the next step, think clearly, and make the necessary moves forward to realize their desired outcomes.- Helps clients understand and accept their emotions
